Seán Tyrrell will play the Moy River Folk Club on Friday 26th Oct from 8pm. Seán is a renowned Irish folk musician and is currently on his Message of Peace Tour of Ireland which has brought him everywhere from Cork to Belfast and Mayo to Meath.  

He is a native of the west of Ireland and emigrated to New York in 1968 where he put together a band “Apples In Winter”, releasing an album in 1974. He later moved to San Francisco and began a solo career where he rubbed shoulders with some of the greats of the folk scene. Seán returned to Ireland in the late seventies where he continued to work at his music. In 1978 he began working for University College Galway, based in the heart of the Burren in county Clare.

The Druid theatre in Galway staged his traditional opera in 1992 which went on to tour Ireland with more than 100 performances. Years later the production was also staged at the Edinburgh Fringe and in San Francisco. Sean has released several critically acclaimed albums and toured all over the world.
