We are lucky to have the option of sea, river, woodland, hill or mountain walk ways here in Sligo. There is a trail or walk for people of all ages and fitness levels. Get the family out and about at the weekends to enjoy the fresh air and stunning scenery.

Take the Enniscrone coastal walk which begins at the Pier, all along the shore towards the main road before returning to Enniscrone. Enniscrone beach stretches for 5km and is one of the safest and cleanest beaches in Ireland. The views are stunning at any time of day, but if you are lucky enough to catch a sunrise or sunset, you won’t forget it!

Union Wood has a number of different trails which will suit all ages or levels of fitness. Most trails lead to Union Rock where, after a short climb you can enjoy views of the North West of Ireland.

The Lough Easkey loop brings you on a scenic trail around the beautiful shoreline of Lough Easkey. This lake is situated in the heart of the stunning Ox Mountain range, which are known to have the oldest rocks in Sligo.

Aughris Head gives walkers the most breath-taking views of the Wild Atlantic Way. Follow the coastal path to the west to catch the most stunning views over the dramatic landscape shaped by the Atlantic.

Easkey village has several, peaceful walking trails around the beautiful rugged coastline and Easkey river.

Lough Talt is a treat for any nature or animal lover. Enjoy a scenic walk around the shores of this picturesque lake where you may catch a glimpse of wild ducks and swans.

All these walks and trails are free and are a great way to explore South & West Sligo.
