South Sligo Tourism held their inaugural networking evening at An Chroí Enterprise Centre in Tubbercurry on Tuesday 21st November 2017. A large crowd of 40+ tourism representatives gathered together, working on promoting south and west Sligo.
Following a presentation by Paul Taylor (Chairman), Marie Brouder (Brouder Marketing) and Lesley Emerson (PR West), breakout groups enthusiastically began developing tourism packages for their area. This was followed by in-depth Q&A session supported by Fintan Kennedy, Vice Chairman.
Eight separate packages were proposed, each including the key elements of accommodation, food, activity and something to enjoy free of charge. Once these are distilled into attractive holiday options and are costed, branded and polished, they will be ready for launching. The packages, and all member events and achievements, will be consistently marketed during 2018 through traditional media as well as online.
Speaking at the networking evening, Paul Taylor, Chairman said, “We look forward to driving this project forward in 2018, working in collaboration with Sligo Tourism and neighbouring counties. This instructive networking event was a significant milestone in the development of South Sligo Tourism. With this group of committed, enthusiastic people working together, south and west Sligo will soon be firmly on the tourism map.”
South and west Sligo have a lot to offer the incoming tourist but, as is common outside urban areas, the businesses have tended to operate alone rather than in conjunction with one another. By joining South Sligo Tourism, businesses will come together, building a stronger tourism product and benefiting the entire community.
The closing date for 2018 membership is 12 January 2018. Anyone involved in the tourism business will find it both beneficial and useful. Contact southsligotourism@gmail.com for further information or visit the website www.southsligotourism.ie #SouthSligo
