South and West Sligo boasts some of the most significant and spectacular heritage sites in the country. Now these national heritage treasures are drawn together in a brand new brochure entitled “Heritage and Historic Gems”. Many of the South and West Sligo Tourism members are experts on their own local areas and visitors love to hear about them. Now, armed with the new brochure, tourists can plan their visits, ensuring they don’t miss any of these remarkable experiences.

A stunning new video has been shot to accompany the brochure. It will act as a ‘teaser’ using spectacular drone footage to showcase these remarkable sites.

Our 25 heritage sites are a combination of built and natural sites. They range from mighty castles with a captivating medieval history to ancient passage tombs older than the Egyptian Pyramids. Visitors can tour a farmhouse getting insights into how people lived a century ago or explore fascinating man-made islands dating from the Mesolithic period. The choice is wide, and the wonderful compact nature of the region means that people can visit them all easily, without having to travel too far.
